Our asphalt cost per square foot calculator is designed to help you estimate the cost of asphalt paving for any project. Whether you're paving a driveway, parking lot, or another surface, you can quickly determine how much you’ll need to budget for the asphalt and related expenses.
How to Use This Calculator
Follow these simple steps to get your cost estimate:
- Enter the total surface area to be paved in square feet.
- Provide the cost of asphalt per square foot (or get an estimate from your local supplier).
- Input the asphalt thickness in inches (usually 2-4 inches for driveways).
- If applicable, add labor costs to your estimate for a more accurate total.
- Click 'Calculate Total Cost' to see the estimated cost for your project.
Formula for Asphalt Cost Calculation
The total asphalt cost is calculated as:
- Total Cost = (Surface Area × Cost per Square Foot × Thickness Factor) + Labor Cost
Where the thickness factor converts inches to feet. It's calculated as thickness (in inches) divided by 12.
Example Calculation
Suppose you're paving a 1,000 sq. ft. driveway with 3 inches of asphalt. The cost of asphalt is $5 per square foot, and labor costs $1,500.
- Surface Area: 1,000 sq. ft.
- Cost per Sq. Ft.: $5
- Asphalt Thickness: 3 inches
- Labor Cost: $1,500
The total cost would be:
- Total Cost = (1,000 × 5 × (3 ÷ 12)) + 1,500 = $1,250 + 1,500 = $2,750
This gives you a detailed view of what to expect for your asphalt paving project.
